The
Center for Effective Organizations (CEO) is a research center
in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern
California. Founded in 1979, it is the original research center
of its type.
CEO
has a national and international reputation for action research
on a wide range of organizational effectiveness issues. It does
research that actively involves corporations in researching and
developing new knowledge about how organizations can be more effective
and competitive. It is also widely recognized for its outstanding
executive education programs in human resources management.

Network
CEO's
corporate sponsor network is comprised of 60 leading corporations
that provide financial support to the Center. These corporations
also provide research locations and participate in the educational
programs that are offered by the Center. An advisory board made
up of representatives from the CEO corporate sponsor network provides
overall direction and guidance to the Center.

Research
Pioneering research in the areas of compensation, performance
management, employee involvement, organization change and design,
organizational learning, and work teams has positioned CEO as
a leading authority in these fields and given them the ability to
inform and influence corporate practices.
CEO
has been regularly mentioned in published listings of university-based
research centers as one of the top three organizational effectiveness
research centers in the United States. Fortune magazine recently
mentioned CEO as one of the major sources of research information
on U.S. industrial competitiveness.
CEO
research findings have been published in leading academic journals
such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management
Review, Harvard Business Review, Organizational Dynamics, Human
Relations, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. CEO research
findings have been reported and quoted in many leading business
and popular publications including Business Week, Fortune, Industry
Week, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Wall Street
Journal, and the Washington Post. They have also been featured
on the Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC.
CEO
research scientists are leading members in their respective fields
and have been honored by the Academy of Management, the American
Compensation Association, the American Psychological Association,
the Society for Human Resource Management, and other national
and international professional associations.
Center
Seminars and Publications
CEO
conducts an annual seminar for human resource executives and periodically
conducts conferences on topics of special interest.
The
Center maintains a publication series containing over 300 articles
written by members of the Center and affiliated faculty. Since
the creation of the Center, its research scientists have published
over twenty books, over 300 articles and book chapters, and given
many speeches to management and academic audiences around the
world.
